Congratulations to the Zachry Construction North Texas Mental Health Champions Program graduates! Zachry is bringing awareness to mental well-being by educating and supporting team members and their families through the Mental Health Champions Program. The program was created to foster a more supportive workplace environment for all employees, whether on the job site or in the office. And in the process, to break down the stigma that keeps people afraid to talk about mental health.

Safety is a top priority every day at Zachry Construction. This week is special because it’s Construction Safety Week, so we are advocating safety through special events and recognition at all Zachry projects location to continue to promote a culture of safety in the construction industry. Zachry’s TxDOT project IH10 – Graytown to Bexar Co. Line near San Antonio, TX hosted Alan Carouth with White Cap Supply and Nick Thornton with DeWalt who demonstrated the proper/safe usage of grinders and cutting tools with our crews. They also stressed the importance of matching the correct replacement blades with the equipment and how to properly inspect & store the equipment. Thank you White Cap Supply and DeWalt!

ZUUS (Zachry Underground Utility and Services) replaced existing streetlight poles with new decorative Valmont poles to beautify downtown on Commerce and Market Street near the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in preparation for the U.S. Travel Association’s IPW Conference May 20 – 24. This is a great achievement for ZUUS, CPS Energy, and the City of San Antonio!

This year marks the 25th year of #WICweek, founded by the National Association of Women in Construction. At Zachry, we have our own organization for women – Zachry Women Breaking Ground – a group dedicated to helping women adjust to the challenges that come with working in a male-dominated profession.

ZWBG members kicked off their first leadership conference yesterday at the Embassy Suites Landmark Hotel in San Antonio, TX. More than 40 women including executive sponsors are learning how to create opportunities, overcoming the gender gap, and more.

Congratulations to Sidney Watts, field engineer on the FM1463 – IH10 to FM1093 project in Katy, Texas, for being elected to the 2022-2023 National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Houston Chapter Board! She also serves on the Clay Shoot and WIC Week Committees.

There was a traffic switch Sunday, Sunday, October 9, 2022, on US 281 or commonly referred to as, “The Switch,” by our project team. ZACHRY forces on US 281 were hard at it to get main lane traffic opened up in this congested area of San Antonio. Working collaboratively with TXDOT, this intermittent switch opens the Southbound main lanes from Wilderness Oaks to the project limit at Stone Oak alleviating a congested intersection at Marshall Rd. Big thanks to all ZACHRY personnel and our subcontractors for making this happen.
