Reconstruction and widening of existing freeway consisting of bridge and walls construction, drainage, subgrade improvement, concrete pavement, traffic signals, ITS and High Mast illumination.

This is an eight-mile joint venture project with Austin Bridge & Road consisting of three new bridges over Red River and BNSF Railroad, adding mainline bridges over FM1202, drainage improvements, more than 500,000 square feet of various types of retaining walls, and adding additional lanes with a complete rebuild extending one mile into Oklahoma. There is also installation of a 500 ft. work Trestle spanning the Red River for Bridge Construction.

Panther Creek Parkway is new EB/WB roadway construction project that connects the Dallas North Parkway and Preston Road.  It includes the excavation/embankment and subgrade, drainage, fiber and illumination, two new signals, concrete pavement, and the construction of three new bridges.

This project will focus on constructing a bridge over Bear Creek spanning a distance of 1,607 feet, along with an accompanying roadway extending for 3,043 feet and water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. In addition, multi-use sidewalks have been incorporated to promote alternative modes of transportation and prioritize pedestrian safety. The primary objective of the project is to alleviate congestion and improve traffic flow in Irving. The construction of the bridge over Bear Creek will provide a crucial link between various neighborhoods and commercial areas, allowing for smoother and more efficient travel. Additionally, the new roadway will enhance accessibility to key destinations, such as schools, businesses, and recreational facilities.

Faithon P. Lucas Blvd. Paving and Drainage Reconstruction for The City of Mesquite:

The FP Lucas Blvd project is the reconstruction of an existing 1.59 mile, 2 lane farm road, to a 4 lane roadway with a center median and dedicated turning lanes. 

Two-lane Farm Road 1417 has become a major bottleneck as Sherman, Texas expands east, most recently with a new high school in the area. ZCC has already been working close by on the U.S. Highway 75 Grayson project so the projects will share many of the same resources. 

Zachry will transform the two miles of FM 1417 into a six-lane divided highway in 30 months’time. The project will entail paving four miles of concrete, placing 20 cast-in-place walls and adding a new storm drain system.

The work will also consit of lowering a bridge approximately 18 feet and building a new one to divert traffic. 

On April, 3 2020, Zachry Construction Corporation completed the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) new parking lot for the Fort Worth district headquarters. The completetion came a month  ahead of schedule despite several change orders.

Far from a simple parking lot, the work entailed placing four 500-foot-long box culverts under the lot top maintain flow  from a drainage creek thath runs through the property. After placing seven feet of fill over the culverts, the team prepared  a new subgrade and laid five and a half inches of asphalt, as well as concrete curb and gutter. They also included a new storage space for TxDOT’s maintenance equipment.

In July2017, Zachry was awarded the contract to expand Mayhill Road on the east side of Denton, TX from a two-lane asphalt road to a four-lane divided concrete road. Above-and below-ground utilities along the busy 3.5-mile strip proved to be themainchallenge throughout this project.

As the ZCC team built bridges, crews also installed various reinforced concrete pipesfor storm drainage, constructed retaining walls and placed 12” concrete pavement.During this work,they had to contend with delays in the removal of various city and franchise utilities, including gas, fiber optic and power lines.Project Manager Chris Zwinggiand his team showed great flexibility as they partnered to redesign or relocate to keep the job on schedule for substantial completion.

As this region continues to grow, countless drivers will travel more safely as they enjoy the newly paved lanes and improved intersections of Mayhill Road.

In May 2016, Zachry Construction Corporation began working on one of Dallas/Fort Worth’s busiest interchanges, the junction of U.S. Highway 75 and President George Bush Turnpike in Plano, TX. Due to single-lane ramps and merges, it was also one of the mostcongested. 

The project added auxiliary lanes to those connectors and widened the Plano Parkway bridge. The project spanned 1.3 miles. The most challenging aspect was widening the railroad bridge over U.S. 75. The team had narrow windows of time while the train was shut down to prepare the substructure, excavate, and lay crane mats so the railroad could be lifted and paved under. 

Work of this nature and size is not typically done and the team showed great resilience adapting to change orders and working with tight deadlines to get traffic opened on time.
