The initial implementation of a detour and utilization of a temporary bridge opens up the project for the construction of the main interchange. This project is a 3-bridge interchange that will be completed in multiple phases due to the need for demolition of existing bridges and new bridge construction, along with horizontal and vertical roadway improvements.
The Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, Zone 1 contract will deliver three aircraft maintenance unit hangars, a squadron maintenance complex, flight simulator facility, group headquarters, weapons load training hangar and more in support of the F-35 mission. Zachry Construction Corporation is responsible for the new F-35 parking apron pavement, as well as the pavement between the newly constructed hangars.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport established a Secondary PCC Slab Replacement Program. This program will include the rehabilitation and replacement of various airfield Portland Cement Concrete pavement slabs that will be identified by the Owner on an as needed, Task Order basis.
The West Ramp Dual Taxilanes Paving and Lighting Project consists of grading, drainage, paving, and electrical work items to provide the capability to taxi two aircraft simultaneously around the west perimeter of Concourse A. Work includes pavement demolition, grading, airfield Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavement, asphalt shoulder paving, pavement marking, drainage structures, reinforced concrete pipe installation, cure-in-place (CIPP) lining, airfield lighting, signage, and ductbanks.
This is a two-phased demo and replacement of the existing structure over US 29 in Greensboro, NC. Each phase consists of bridge demo and replacement, MSE, shoring, and wire walls, storm drain, asphalt paving, and several more scopes of work. The existing bridge is a 4 spanned steel girder structure and the proposed structure will be a 2 span bridge consisting of concrete girders.
This project in Smithfield, North Carolina will see us widening the bridge that takes US 70 over Interstate 95, as well as updating the ramps. We will also be installing a box culvert and adding a new greenfield road to connect Mallard Rd to US 70 on the east end of the project. In addition, we will be updating water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain systems project-wide.
Zachry Construction will build a temporary tug access road to provide access during phase two construction removing 7,250sy of existing asphalt and construct a new concrete apron (16,050SY) over 2 phases, and install five new drainage runs and new airfield lighting at the Hartnett County Jetport in Erwin, NC.
Zachry Construction will perform rapid reconstruction panel replacement and partial depth repairs on runway and taxiway at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Raleigh, NC.

In November 2019, ZCC was awarded a $35 million contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to enhance the Interstate 40 and Airport Boulevard Interchange in Morrisville. The Zachry crew began work in March 2020 and expect to finish in March 2025. The bulk of the work will be replacing the current single bridge with a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) and adding auxiliary lanes to I-40 in both directions.
